After many years at the big end of town, working for institutions, managing large teams and being recognised as a strong leader, Paul has found his niche running his own practice as an Aged Care Specialist. “My main role is to assist the elderly folk transition from their family home into an aged care facility, of their choice.”
Paul has spent almost half of his working life in senior roles e.g. Head of Premium Financial Services with the NAB where his team of some 250 members included Private Banking, Financial Planning, Home loan Lenders and a large team of premium bankers.
During this phase of his working life, he was rewarded through inclusion in a worldwide group of 20 Senior Managers chosen to complete a Transformational Leadership course.
Paul thoroughly enjoyed this course due to the diversity of the group and their rich cultural backgrounds.
His selection as the participant’s choice to provide the final farewell speech was no surprise to many.
A further 2 terms with CUA as their Head of Financial Planning over 9 years also brought many challenges including the task of setting the business up as a separate subsidiary company with its own AFSL licence.
Paul wears his heart on his sleeve, his approach is always with open honesty, empathy, kindness and humour. These traits ensure his client’s experience less stress and concern during this considerable life change as he understands the toll it can have on the person and all family members involved.
“I would like to be able to mentor younger folk to take over from where I left off, to ensure my experience and knowledge is not wasted.”
He is an entertaining and charismatic presenter, a skill developed over years of corporate leadership combined with a natural ability, of which he says “I am comfortable walking into a room full of folk I do not know and start talking to a group and sharing a few stories and often a joke or two.” Plus 35 years in financial services, banking and aged care mean he really knows his stuff.
Paul says what he loves outside of work is “Spending time with and attending special occasions with my grandchildren (like Grandparents day at the school) and celebrations for my wife and family.”

WHAT I DO - SHORT VERSION
I work with families & individuals who want to know their options when it comes to aged care.
We know the rules and systems, we listen openly and endeavour to provide a solution with as little stress as possible by identify at least 2 Aged Care Facilities, within the geographic location and including the amenities required then discuss the options to allow an education decision to be made.
It is a matter of simple planning, knowledge and empathy.
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR AFAN
Paul has been involved in the financial services industry for more than 35 years, his experience, knowledge and relationships in banking, financial planning and aged care are exceptional. Paul is now solely focused on Aged Care Services including finding a suitable aged care facility, seeking a care provider for home assistance, compiling full written plans on how a client might meet upfront and ongoing care fees and acting as a mediator at home, for the family and their loved one.
This means that every member of AFAN can rest assured their clients will be in the best hands when it comes to Aged Care.
Paul is generous in sharing his expertise and is a confident and charismatic presenter and educator, which means AFAN members and their clients will be enriched and entertained by his sharing of knowledge.
Paul’s honesty and humour bring value to the group which is difficult to find, he is honest and does not tolerate anything less. “No ifs and buts here – the truth is the key.”
PAUL’S VISION FOR AFAN
Allowing all advisers to have a choice to stay in the business they chose and to have a sense of purpose.
I would like to be able to mentor younger folk to take over from where I left off to ensure my experience and knowledge is not wasted.
